Well. That was certainly rousing, wasn't it? One can never really quite know what to expect. On the other hand, at least some of the bigger picture is finally known. [There was a bit of a pause as he took a sip from a cup of coffee.] I do hope that everyone is well.

Perhaps now there will be a bit of a calm since those do tend to be nice before the next big storm.

But what about outliving other nations? I'm sure you've seen your share of the rise and fall of them. Prussia, Persia, the Roman Empire. Actually, I'm also a bit intersted in learning about the creation of new nations. For example, take the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Are they represented by two individuals or just one? [Pausing for a moment, he thought about something.] That's actually a good case to consider for me, especially seeing that the lands they were created from used to be a part of Austria-Hungary.

[What he really wants to do is ask about the countries that came out of the break-up of the USSR but he's not too sure if it's a safe subject to get into.]

Fallen nations disappear and new nations just appear. We do not have influence over this, but discovery of new friends is exciting!

[Don't ask about the USSR, bro. The one thing that can make Russia depressed is talking about his sisters...]

That's certainly interesting. Though I can see how it would make sense that way. [Thankfully he's not out to depress nations. ...though that would be an accomplishment.]

So what are the perks of being a nation, besides living long?

As long as economy is doing well, perfect health.

So how does that work here, then? Can you still "sense" things from back home or...?

...Nyet.

We are too far separated.

A shame. Does it bother you?

Feeling is very unpleasant, like emptiness inside.

[He places his hand on his chest, and if Arthur is observant enough, he might notice that something appears to have just attempted to fall out of Russia's chest. But that's crazy, right? Must've been a trick of the light...]

[Either Russia keeps a rodent in his pocket or he's even more interesting than Arthur originally thought. Whatever it may be, it definitely has his interest as he's sure just about anything is possible.

...even miniature scarecrows or something.]
Was that something in your pocket?

Oh, nothing important.

[That only makes him wonder more.] Of course. My apologies for probably being so intrusive with asking.

But are you absolutely sure?

See? Nothing.

[...clearly Russia learned sorcery.] Of course. Must have simply been a mistaken on my behalf. My apologies.

[Clearly.]

Apology accepted. [And with that, they can switch topics. Russia usually doesn't like talking about himself so much without finding out something about the person he's talking to, so...] Now, who are you?

[A change in topic worked well for him. If Russia hadn't done so, he would have. though it might not have been to himself.] My apologies. I'm Arthur. I can't quite say that there's much of anything interesting about me, however. I'm simply a consultant by trade.

[Or something like that, anyway.]
