Well. That was certainly rousing, wasn't it? One can never really quite know what to expect. On the other hand, at least some of the bigger picture is finally known. [There was a bit of a pause as he took a sip from a cup of coffee.] I do hope that everyone is well.

Perhaps now there will be a bit of a calm since those do tend to be nice before the next big storm.

[Hey. He's got this. Don't worry. It's just a little hard to practice when one can't actually do so.] A little improvision is sometimes needed. Especially when the rules aren't quite the same.

[There was a slight smile as he shrugged.] Literature and philosophy.

There's no reason the rules shouldn't be the same. [she'll worry all she likes. She's still new to all this, even if she was in there while they were performing inception.] They're all dreams, and all dreams are built the same way.

[she actually looks somewhat amused.] To whom?

More in the lines that... access is different. One simply has to fall asleep. Those sort of basic rules. [One didn't have to be right there, connected. Everything could be done from the comfort of one's own bed.] Manipulation doesn't seem to be quite as easy, either.

[He's spreading intellect and classic literature to the masses. It's so thoughtful of him.] More of the older crowd. You know. Those who are not in grade school.

The principle is the same. Fall asleep somehow, and dream. It's interesting that the sleep comas seem to be inaccessible, though. [she tips her head slightly.] All they gave me was 'intense concentration'. If you read between the lines, they don't think everyone can do it. [...and she's maybe looking a bit smug. She managed to manipulate her dream just fine after the initial go.

[It is, indeed.]
The college. Maybe I'll stop by.

Which is curious. I wonder what's so different about these sleep comas. [Dreaming-wise, anyway. Do people just not dream? What about electric sheep for that matter?] I think it's even more interesting that not everyone seems to be able to have the ability.

[He'll culture the world.] You're always welcome to. In fact, I'll even make sure to leave an open seat.

As far as I can tell, they're only a slightly deeper sleep than the average; it shouldn't inhibit the ability to dream the way it does. It does impair inner-ear functions, though, considering I couldn't wake up until my body wanted me to, regardless of kick. And then, I'm not sure that I did dream. [...electric sheep?] Do you think that it's just because they can't do it, or because they're not trying, though?

I'd appreciate that.

Perhaps it's some effect of the place. We still don't know much at all, after all, and some of the technology certainly is strange. There could be some sort of interference created by something. [Yes. Electric sheep.] Some may simply not have the knack for it. It could simply be another skill like any others. There's plenty who would love to play a musical instrument, for example, but no matter how hard they try they just can never quite get it.

Shall I leave your name on it as well?

If they were willing to tell us anything, we could figure it out. If they're trusting us to dreamwalk, then they can trust us with the knowledge of how things work. If they don't even know, why are they hiding that? [whatever you say.] I suppose you have a point. Practice doesn't necessarily mean perfect.

I think I can find my way to an empty seat.

Unfortunately, they're not willing to trust us with the truth of the matter. Or further knowledge, anyway. It's kind of strange that they'd reveal something as big as dreamwalking but not information on Nitiri other than what we now know. [It involves robot dreams.] Perhaps there's some method behind the madness and we just cannot see it yet.

[But if he doesn't mark a seat for her, how will she know which one to take?] Of course then.

buildingreality: (pointing out the obvious)

Especially when Nitiri's presence threatened the lives of a good portion of the entire city. They can't just tell us it's completely harmless, only to have unforeseen consequences happen. [that is way too Cobb for her tastes, and the look on her face shows that. Also, robot dreams, what.] Nothing we can do but hope you're right. And keep doing what we're doing, of course.

[fine, he can mark her a seat. But if it has anything more than her name written on it, she's going to make a sign for him next time that's just as ridiculous.]

That's where my reservations are as well. What else are they not telling us? Could there possibly be someone even more powerful than those we've already met? I can understand not wanting to share to a certain degree but we're stuck in this now, whether they like it or not. A little sharing isn't too much to ask, I wouldn't think. I don't think asking for a little more specific information is asking for too much. [It doees bring about comparisons to Cobb though, doesn't it. He'd be right at home. And those robot dreams? Oh. Nothing. Robot dreams and electric sheep are just food for thought.]

[Is that a promise? Because he'll make it the most ridiculous thing he can then.]

If there's someone worse than Nitiri, what does that pose for us in the near future? From what I've gathered, she isn't about to back down. I don't think it is either; the fact that they're all holding out like this tells me there's something going on behind the scenes. [hopefully he doesn't show up out of spite. How would robot dreams even work?]

[Really. Will he now?]

Date: 2011-10-04 03:19 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] defyantigravity.livejournal.com
That's what is a bit worrisome. She certainly isn't the kind to just give up after one go and if there is something going on behind the scenes, how big is it? Are we bound for any more last-minute surprises? Really, it wouldn't be so bad if they'd just start telling us so that we can be better prepared. [...and yet if he does, it wouldn't be surprising at all. Robot dreams would work like programming, perhaps. What do robots even dream of?]

[He will. Just for her~]

It's bigger than us, at least. We know that much for sure. Do you think if we went about it in a more roundabout way, we could get something out of them? [that is indeed how spite works. You could ask a robot. Maybe they don't dream at all.]

[Now that's how you show affection. Well done.]

From: [identity profile] defyantigravity.livejournal.com
That might be worth a try. The direct route certainly hasn't been working at all. Besides. The worst that could happen is that we learn nothing new. [Spite is such a powerful tool, too. ...are there any robots around?]

[What can he say? He's such a gentleman like that.]

Unfortunately no. I seem to have bad timing. Next time, though, I'll make an effort to do so. [Robot builders? Mad scientists? There's probably a few of them running around.]

Do so. If nothing else, they're somewhat interesting as far as the extent to which they'll go to reject requests for information. [...probably. Let's find one!]

It'll be interesting to see. At the very least, if we're annoying enough perhaps they'll just give up the information to get us to shut up. [Perfect! I'll put up a wanted ad.]
